Duterte, who’s also known for his iron-fisted way of enforcing laws in Davao City, says there’s no need for another martial law and ask for everyone to follow law.

The Mayor is an admirer of the former president Marcos’ programs on fisheries and agriculture, Biyaya ng Dagat and Masagana 99. He also said, if it wasn’t for the exploitation and injustices during Marcos regime, he could be Philippines best president.

“Yes, in the sense that during his time, minus his years when he was waning, but during the first 4 years we had very good governance in this country,” he said.

Due to his admiration to Marcos, he didn’t escape critics and comparison to the former. His vision on instilling discipline to Filipinos and his boldness in combating crime and corruption citing that it would be bloody fight makes it more akin to Marcos. Some people even called him a Fascist.

However, Duterte had respond to these saying “I will not become a dictator. I will just ask everybody to follow the law. But then, I’ll be strict and harsh. There is a law, don’t do drugs. Don’t kidnap. Don’t be corrupt, don’t plant bullets. Pay taxes,”

Duterte now tops online polls and had gathered a stronger group of netizens who defends and campaigns him online.
