“Trabaho ang pinakaimportante. Nagawa ko na dati to nung nasa DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) ako, sa mga garments, call centers, pagawaan. Kaya alam ko na magagawa ko muli ito,” Manuel Roxas said during a campaign rally in Baliuag, Bulacan last February 27, 2016.

(“Employment is the most important. I did it before when I was in the Department of Trade and Industry, in garments, call centers, factories. I know that I can do it again.”)

Roxas emphasized to create more and better jobs on his six-years regime.

Economist Professor Ernesto Pernia of the University of the Philippines School of Economics said Roxas target is insufficient considering Philippine’s underemployment and unemployment rate is high.

“That will only absorb the new entrants, a little bit more than the new entrants. How about the unemployed of nearly 3 million? Let alone the underemployed,” Penia said.

Penia underlines that the Philippines need 3 million jobs annually within five years.  This will fill in the job deficits that troubled the country for years.

At present, Liberal party continues to  campaign in Bulacan, one of vote-rich province in the country.
