Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano hosts a reception in honor of Dr. Susan Mercado at the Philippine Consulate General in New York, United of States of America on September 27, 2018. Dr. Mercado was appointed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as Special Envoy for Global Health Initiatives in April 2018 and is the nominee of the Philippines for the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for the Western Pacific. The other nominees come from Japan, Malaysia and New Zealand. She has occupied several positions in the WHO for more than fifteen years, and also served in the Department of Health (DOH).
