Port Moresby, PNG – Today, I became witness once again to an historic event where leaders of the Asia-Pacific Region met to discuss economic issues affecting their countries and people.
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Papua New Guinea is the third which I attended since President Rody Duterte appointed me Agriculture Secretary.
The first APEC I attended was in Piura, Peru in October 2016 where the Agriculture Ministers and Secretaries of the different member countries gathered prior to the main APEC Leaders Summit.
Last year, I joined President Duterte in Danang, Vietnam for a very fruit APEC which actually resulted in the signing yesterday of the Agricultural Cooperation Agreement between the Philippines and Papua New Guinea.
Next year, APEC will be in Chile and it will surely be another distinct experience.
In all of these events, I gained the rare privilege of meeting and even having photos with some of the world’s most powerful leaders.
