The second reading of the bill legalizing and regulating the use of medical Marijuana was approved by the House of the Representatives.

As cited in the report of Philstar, the law may provide patients suffering from serious diseases with alternative medicine in the form of cannabis, once the bill is pass. Further, the bill also provides for the establishment of the Medical Cannabis Compassionate Center. Respectively, the Department of Health licensed the medical center to acquire, possess, manufacture and sell cannabis to registered qualifying patients.

Moreover, the House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is the author of the House Bill 6517. Accordingly, Arroyo used medical cannabis patches to ease the pain in her cervical spine.

“I really believe in medical cannabis. As you know, I have my problem here and when I’m in a country that allows it, I put a pain patch. But here in the Philippines, I cannot do it”, Arroyo revealed. Thus, this made her draft a bill legalizing the use of medical Marijuana in the Philippines.

More interestingly, Catriona Gray’s answer in the recent Miss Universe 2018 enlightened legalization of Marijuana. According to her the use of marijuana is for medical purposes but not for recreation.

The use of medical Marijuana is not allowed here in the Philippines. The Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 prohibited any uses of the Marijuana.

Noted in the report of Philstar, no counterpart bill occur in the Senate.  However, some senators make their support behind the legalization of medical marijuana.
