MANILA — Former Special Assistant to the President and senatorial aspirant Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Thursday appealed to the congregation of the Bible Baptist Church (BBC) of Pasay, Inc. to help in the administration’s campaign against illegal drugs, crime and corruption.

“Alam nyo galit si Pangulong Duterte sa droga. Andami na pong naging biktima nito. Buti na lang po nung naging Pangulo siya marami na pong nagbagong-buhay. So, tulungan po natin si Pangulong Duterte,” Go said in his message at the BBC Pasay World Missions Conference.

Go said leaders of the BBC were among the first groups who threw their support behind the candidacy of Duterte in the 2016 presidential elections.

“Isa po sila (leaders of BBC) sa unang naniwala kay Pangulong Duterte. Maraming salamat po,” he added.

In his speech, the former presidential aide reiterated his support for President Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs, crime and corruption.

He said Duterte remains resolute in fulfilling his campaign promise to protect the nation from these threats.

“Yan po naman ang pangako ni Pangulo noon na linisin niya ang Pilipinas kaya suportahan natin siya,” he said.

Go said he had no plan to run for public office but the President urged him to throw his hat in the political arena to serve the country in his own capacity as a public servant.

He added that while he does not possess political pedigree of other candidates, he said he believes his personal experience attending to the needs of people who sought the assistance of then Davao Mayor Duterte would qualify him for the job.

“Kung experience po ang pag-uusapan, araw-araw po ang trabaho ko magserbisyo sa tao,” said Go, adding that it became second-nature to him. “Bisyo ko na po ang magserbisyo.”

Go explained that foremost in his legislative agenda is his advocacy to improve the delivery of medical services in the country, including the establishment of Malasakit Center in all provinces and key cities nationwide.

A Malasakit Center makes it easier and faster for poor patients to avail of medical and financial assistance from the government by putting together in one room all concerned agencies such as the DOH, DSWD, PCSO and Philhealth.

“Pag naisabatas po ito tuloy tuloy na at mas marami pong matutulungan kahit hindi na Pangulo si Pangulong Duterte,” Go explained.

He also vowed to address the prevalent inadequacy of hospital beds in the public hospitals, noting it was not unusual to see three or more patients sharing one bed or some of them having to stay in the corridors.

“Ako po ang inyong magiging tulay kay Pangulong Duterte, palalakasin ko po ang ating medical services,” Go said.

Aside from improved health services and pursuing the fight against drugs, crime and corruption, Go said his legislative agenda include programs on agriculture, education, housing, fire protection and prevention, localized peace talks, long-term sports development, creation of a Department of OFW, barangay welfare and additional benefits for senior citizens.
