The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Laoag City had observed an increasing population of Filipino women that engaged into agriculture related activities.
According to the report of the Philippine News Agency (PNA), Shirley Pascua, TESDA specialist, said that out of 69 new graduates of TESDA-training for work scholarship program, most of them are women.

Significantly, Ms. Edita Dacuycuy from Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, one of most influential leaders in agriculture innovation, multi-awarded farmer-entrepreneur, inspired other Filipino women to never settle for less.
Interestingly, at her age of 73, she is unstoppable in inspiring not just Filipinos but most specially, the women in considering farming a way of life.
As cited in the report of PNA, Dacuycuy imparted that “women of today, let us bravely and courageously face the challenges of our times. Let not be our gender a setback in the battle for economy and advancement,”. These were her words during her speech in various engagements to promote agribusiness and women as catalyst of change.
Apart from that, Dacuycuy is also known as the Dragron fruit lady of the north. Through the fruit, she solved her daughter’s perennial constipation ( See report here Up close: Dragon fruit lady of the north).
