Bank of the Philippines (BPI) announced that a system upgrade will be conducted on October 19,2019, Saturday.

In line with this, online banking, mobile app, BizLink and ELink platforms as well as ATMs, Cash Accept Machines and debit card services will be affected. Major updates will take place from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. of Saturday.

Moreover, the public is advised that the bank is close on Saturday. Most of the bank’s transactions are not available on weekend. Transaction should be planned before the said maintenance.

“This is in line with our continuing efforts to provide more advanced services and capabilities for you,” BPI mentioned.

BPI stated that credit card and prepaid card services will remain accessible amid the major system upgrade.

“Bank’s systems upgrade in April led to service disruptions, with services unavailable to clients days after the upgrade was supposed to have finished,” Philstar reported.

As cited in the report, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas urged banks to obtain a roll-back program in place in case of problems with migrating to a new system. Respectively, the central bank emphasized that BPI should formulate and implement sound and effective change management processes.

“The BSP wishes to remind all BSFIs that are undertaking or will undertake major system enhancements or upgrades to formulate and implement sound and effective change management processes to ensure the integrity and reliability of their production environment,” BSP Deputy Governor Chuchi Fonacier said.
