On May 15, 2021, a group called “Gising Maharlika” or “Wake Up Maharlika” was at the service road, Baclaran, Paranaque City, with tarps and placards opposing mandatory vaccinations and prolonged lock downs.

Abante News Online reporter interviewed and spoke to the representative and one of the group’s founders, Rok Gonzaga.

Abante News Online asked Gonzaga why there were placards? What’s the group’s intent and message they’d wish to convey to their fellow countrymen?

Gonzaga responded:

He stressed that many are suffering from the prolonged lockdowns, causing more difficulty and damage to the people.

Hopefully, the people who are behind in making the decisions for the country would be open to considering other options and medications to end the lockdowns. Gonzaga mentions “smart lockdown” as well.

He further stated that there should be an individual preference when it comes to a person’s health. That mandatory vaccination soldiers, front liners, and every citizen are not choices the government should pursue.

The demonstration of the group intends to fight for pro-choice, human rights, and freedom.

Abante News Online asked about the group’s opinion regarding the government’s vaccination process a lady answered ANO’s question, stating:

Gising Maharlika’s founder shared that their group initiated their advocacy in December 2020. And the peaceful protest is simultaneous to the WORLDWIDE Rally for Freedom with 180 countries.

Abante News Online asks what’s their message to the people who are watching the live interview?
