After three postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Canadian-American singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette will finally hold a one-night concert on August 1, 2023, at the Mall of Asia Arena. The event is a celebration of the 28th anniversary of her iconic album, Jagged Little Pill, which won five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.
Jagged Little Pill was released in 1995 and became a cultural phenomenon. Its songs, including “You Oughta Know,” “Hand in My Pocket,” and “Ironic,” were Top 10 hits that captured the spirit of the mid-’90s, a time marked by Gen-X cynicism and self-realization. The album was ranked 69 on Rolling Stone’s list of “the 500 best albums of all time.”
Since then, Morissette has continued to create critically acclaimed music, releasing nine more albums that showcase her expressive and eclectic style. She has also composed music for films and appeared in both big and small-screen productions.
Aside from her entertainment career, Morissette strongly advocates for female empowerment and mental and physical well-being. In 2016, she launched a monthly podcast called Conversation with Alanis Morissette, where she talks with experts on various psychosocial topics.
In December 2019, a musical adaptation of Jagged Little Pill premiered on Broadway and was nominated for 15 Tony Awards. The show won two Tony Awards in 2021. In July 2020, Morissette released her ninth studio album, Such Pretty Forks in the Road, which was well-received by critics.
Morissette kicked off her sold-out world tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of Jagged Little Pill in August 2021. The tour became the top female-fronted tour of 2021, selling over 500,000 tickets and becoming one of the Top Worldwide Tours of 2021. She also stars in Fox’s sitcom, “The Great North,” which returned for its third season in 2022.
Morissette's upcoming concert in Manila is presented by Ovation Productions, with TAPGO.TV serving as the media partner. Fans of the singer-songwriter can expect a memorable performance that celebrates her most iconic album, as well as a showcase of her other critically acclaimed works.
In addition to her musical talents, Morissette's commitment to empowering women and promoting mental and physical well-being has made her a respected figure in the entertainment industry. Her upcoming concert in Manila will be a testament to her enduring popularity and influence.
