According to a Canada-based content creator, Morissette Amon could be the “rightful successor” to Regine Velasquez, citing the former’s impressive singing abilities. Music Game News, a popular YouTube channel with over a million subscribers, made this declaration while comparing Amon’s singing to that of other Filipino artists, such as Jonalyn Viray, Lani Misalucha, Sarah Geronimo, Katrina Velarde, Aicelle Santos, and Kyla.

During the video, Music Game News praised Velasquez’s singing abilities and expressed admiration for her “phrased high notes and stamina” while showcasing her performances of the song “How Could You Leave.” Ovela, the content creator, acknowledged that Velasquez’s voice was “out of this world” and gave him “goosebumps.”

Although Velasquez is currently 53 years old, Ovela believes that she remains a “knockout,” citing her prime years in her late 20s and 30s. In the video titled “Impossible OPM Songs to Sing Live! Top Class Filipina Singers,” Ovela praised Amon’s “insane high belting,” “amazing head voice,” and “extreme whistle runs” while reacting to a video of her singing the song “Di Mapaliwanag.”

Ovela stated that Amon could be the “successor” to Velasquez’s throne, adding that “she can do everything that Regine has” with “precision and excellence.” However, he also expressed hope that Filipino male singers would receive equal recognition as female singers.

The singers have yet to respond to Ovela’s comments on their official social media accounts. In the past, Velasquez and Amon have performed together on the Sunday noontime show “ASAP Natin ‘To,” where they sang “Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw,” and Mariah Carey classic hits “My All,” and “Never Too Far.”

Regine Velasquez’s prime singing years may have passed, but her legacy lives on through talented Filipino artists like Morissette Amon. Aspiring singers can look up to these two individuals as they strive to achieve excellence in their craft.
