The franchises for both the Miss Supranational and Miss Charm pageants in the Philippines are held by Empire Philippines, with Jonas Gaffud serving as the head and also the creative director of the Miss Universe Philippines Organization.
The 2023 Miss Universe Philippines pageant is the fourth edition of the standalone national competition that determines the country’s representative for the Miss Universe pageant. Annabelle McDonnell, last year’s first runner-up, was belatedly awarded the Miss Charm Philippines title. McDonnell also achieved the first runner-up position in the inaugural edition of the 2023 Miss Charm pageant, which is based in Vietnam.
This year marks Empire Philippines’ debut in sending the country’s representative to the Miss Supranational pageant. On the male front, Johannes Rissler was recently proclaimed as the country’s representative for the Mister Supranational pageant, following the first Mister Pilipinas Worldwide contest organized by Empire Philippines.
It is worth noting that Mutya Datul remains the only Filipino woman to have won the Miss Supranational title, achieving this feat a decade ago. However, the Philippines has yet to secure a victory in the Mister Supranational contest.
