Wednesday, July 6, is a non-working holiday to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, Malacañang announced Monday, July 4.
Proclamation No. 6, s. 2016, has been signed by President Rodrigo Duterte, declaring July 6 a regular holiday.
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, and under Republic Act 9177, is considered a regular holiday throughout the country.
“The entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance and celebration” of Eid al-Fitr, part of the proclamation read. – With reports from Pia Ranada / Rappler.com
