PNP Drug Enforcement Group still looking for new members

Date:

The PNP- drug enforcement group still hasn’t completed its recruitment of righteous policemen who will be members of the new group which will spearhead the PNP’s renewed campaign against illegal drugs.

According to PDEG director Sr. Supt. Graciano Mijares, the group needs around 500 personnel but they have so far only recruited 54.

He noted that some of their initial members are administrative personnel from the defunct PNP-anti illegal drugs group.

Mijares said they also plan to recruit members from the PNP-K9 unit and SWAT to function as tactical operatives.

PNP chief PDG Ronald Bato Dela Rosa had earlier said that he expects the recruitment of new PDEG operatives to be a slow process, if only to ensure that all the group’s personnel are of unquestionable character.

According to Dela Rosa, all the group’s prospective members will have to undergo an intensive background investigation to make sure that the group is not infiltrated by rogue cops like SPO3 Ricky Sta Isabel, who used the previous anti drug campaign to advance his personal interests. | via DZRB
