A traditional Filipino fishing ground near Palawan Island called The Quirino or Jackson Atoll is now effectively under controlled by Chinese Navy.
China has stationed atleast 5 ships to keep local fishermans at bay, in a statement reported from Philstar.com.
“Gray and white Chinese vessels have not left the atoll, which Filipino fisherman also call Jackson Five, because of the existence of five lagoons in the area.” said in a report.
Filipino fisherman passionately expressed that the Chinese vessels didn’t allow them to come near or linger in the Quirino Atoll.
The presence of at least four Chinese coast guard ships in the Jackson lagoons was confirmed by Philippine Air patrol.
It was reported that a Palawan-based fishing operator said that China began deploying ships to Quirino Atoll, after a Manila-based fishing carrier boat run grounded in the area because of the bad weather.
