Convicted armed robber and drug dealer Herbert Colangco will testify against Sen. Leila De Lima, Justice Sec. Vitaliano Aguirre II said on Friday, as reported by radio dzBB.
Aside from Colangco, who is detained at the New Bilibid Prison, other high-profile inmates will also testify that de Lima received drug money.
“Colangco is one of the 10 to 12 high-profile inmates na mag-te-testify,” Aguirre said.
Aguirre had said two witnesses claimed De Lima allegedly got P5 million from drug proceeds in just one delivery at her house in Parañaque City.
A former official and agents of the National Bureau of Investigation have also promised to testify on De Lima’s drug links, according to the Justice chief.
The House of Representatives has set the hearing on the alleged proliferation of illegal drugs at the New Bilibid Prison on September 20 which De Lima said she would not attend, citing interparliamentary courtesy.
