The Department of Agriculture(DA) prepares database for farmers in order to delivery support easily. In the facebook post of DA Secretary, Manny Piñol, the modern information technology will be launched on the first quarter of 2019. Accordingly, the said program will easily identify each and every farmer and fisherman in the country and determine whether he has been assisted by government.

The AgrInnovation (agricultural innovation) by DA is called National Farmers and Fisherman’s Database (NFFD). It has the database of farmers and fisherfolks, including the geo-tagged location of his farm and house.

About the Database for Farmers

More significantly, Piñol emphasized that “it will also indicate what interventions he has received from government, like loans, seeds, boats, farm inputs and others, and the results of the interventions.” In the database, economic profile of the family at the start of the interventions, specifically poverty level, and monitor improvements after two years are indicated as well.

According to Piñol, this program is expected to effectively assist the Department of Agriculture (DA) in targeting the real beneficiaries of its programs such as the Easy Access Credit Program under the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC).

Setting up this modern technology information prevents ‘fake farmers’ to be enjoined with benefits from the government.

“All the information contained in the database of the NFFD will only be accessible to President Rody Duterte, the Secretary of Agriculture and key officials of government and the agencies implementing interventions,” Piñol added.

Apart from this program, DA and the private sector have already launched software that digitalized agriculture ( See post here Revolutionizing agriculture through agri application software
