President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said yesterday during the Candon Bypass Road inauguration that he wants to prioritize in buying local rice over importations.
As cited in the report from ABS-CBN News, the president wants to make compromise with the local rice farmers during the implementation of Rice Tarrification Law.
“You can be sure that during your harvest no importation will be allowed. Ayaw ko. That’s what I said. Ubusin mo muna bilhin, kung mahal magpalugi na lang tayo kaysa magbili tayo,” Duterte said on his speech.
“Pagka mahal, bilhin mo na. Kaysa kung mag-NPA ‘yan mas malaki ang gastos natin. Buhay na pati bala. Common sense, bilhin mo. Bahala na malugi tayo,” the president explained.
He also revealed why he transferred the Department of Agriculture Secretary, Emmanuel Piñol to Mindanao Development Authority.
“He kept on saying that everything is all right. So the Filipinos became hungry. There’s no more rice. They were already fighting there. Di ko na lang… Ayaw ko na lang sabihin kung sino,” Duterte revealed.
President Duterte delivered a speech during the inauguration of the Candon City Bypass Road yesterday.
Apart from agriculture, the president also discussed the bounty worth one million for the NPA leaders.
