After six months of rehabilitation, Boracay was recognized as the best island in Asia by Condé Nast Traveler in its 2019 Readers’ Choice Awards.
Boracay Island in Visayas is known for its white-sand and pristine beaches. These are one of the characteristics that made Boracay as the best island in Asia.
“Located in the center of the Philippines, Cebu draws nearly 2 million travellers annually for its pristine beaches and diving off the island’s northern coast,” Condé Nast Traveler said of Cebu and Visayas Islands.
“This itty-bitty island (just under four square miles) in the Western Philippines is as close to a tropical idyll as you’ll find in Southeast Asia, with gentle coastlines and made-for-Instagram sunsets. Fold in a thriving nightlife scene, and you have one of the top tourist spots in the region,” Condé Nast Traveler said of Boracay.
Moreover, apart from Boracay, Cebu and Visayas ranked second while Palawan placed at the fourth spot.
Palawan was described as “home to the otherworldly Puerto Princesa Subterranean River, a UNESCO World Heritage Site worth the trip alone.”
To complete the top five best islands in Asia, Penang in Malaysia ranked in third place; and Bali in Indonesia, in fifth place.
