The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), together with the Development Academy of Philippines (DAP), will train people on data science and analytics.
Moreover, the program for data science and analytics is entitled “Smarter Philippines Through Data Analytics R&D, Training and Adoption (SPARTA)”.
The said partnership for the program deemed to train 30,000 individuals. PhP 16.67 million was allocated for the first year of the program. The three year-program attains PhP 50.84 million.
As soon as the fund will be released by DOST, the program will start immediately.
“We have designated DAP in carrying out this training to build competency in data analytics,” Science and Technology Secretary Fortunato dela Peña said in an interview, adding that the DOST and DAP signed partnership for this program last week.
Further, dela Peña stated that people from government,academe, and individuals from business process outsourcing (BPO) industry will undergo the data science and analytics training.
The BPO industry might need retraining due to AI’s (artificial intelligence’s) (apparent) threat to lessen BPO jobs,” dela Peña said.
Respectively, DAP will choose the trainees.
“I also want other government agencies to at least have a substantial background (in data analytics),” dela Pena said.
