Plastic Recycling Facility in Nueva Ecija Opens


The plastic recycling facility in Nueva Ecija which transforms garbage to useful materials started to operate at the waste management park in Brgy. Bagong Silang.

The said facility was open last January 21,2020 which can melt plastic to make school chair.

“The machine that was placed at the compound of the town’s material recovery facility (MRF) can make school chairs, bricks and pots out of plastics that comprise roughly 10 percent of their 10-ton daily garbage collection,” Mayor Nerivi Santos-Martinez said.

 Moreover, the MRF has forest, zoo, and area for diversified crops.

Mayor Martinez emphasized that the plastic recycling facility is connected to the zero-waste campaign, which was inspired by the Villar Foundation of Senator Cynthia Villar and financially supported by the local government.

“The recycling machine is part of the program that transforms the old stinky open dumpsite into a clean and green solid waste management park that will also be opened for students’ educational visit,” the Mayor Martinez mentioned.

Martinez explained that the machine can melt up to 1,500 kilograms a day if it can process seven to ten hours daily. Also, the residual waste will be sent to Metro Clark for proper disposal.

Moreover, Mayor Martinez admire the commitment of the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) led by Nerito Santos in pursuing the responsible solid waste management.
