The Tragic Outcome of Angel Locsin’s Community Pantry

Angel Locsin is a woman of grace, elegance and has a real heart of gold.

She is not only an amazing actress who gives her all to her craft but also a generous citizen helping out those in need.

Whenever natural calamities occur, or emergencies happen, she is among the first people to offer whatever assistance she can contribute.

So, it was not a surprise that she will organize a community pantry of her own. On April 22, 2021, Locsin posted on her verified Facebook and IG accounts that she decides to celebrate her birthday by putting up a community pantry at the Titanium Commercial Building, 36 Holy Spirit Drive, corner Don Matias St., Don Antonio Heights, Brgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City.

She then posted on her Twitter account that they will start at 10:00 AM and not violate the social distancing protocols.

But, because of the unforeseeable events, the organized and kind initiative tragically turned awry on April 23, 2021.

It became turbulent as more and more people did their best to get in line, causing chaos instead. The volunteers had no chance to impose the physical distancing protocols when people started pushing each other.

An elderly who was waiting to get to his turn suddenly collapsed. 62-year-old Rolando dela Cruz, a senior citizen, was immediately rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, dela Cruz was pronounced dead on arrival.

Angel Locsin straightaway shared on Instagram a public apology video. She begs for the forgiveness of the turmoil the event created.

“Sa mga nagambala ko po dito, pasensya na po. Hindi po ito ang intensyon ko.”
(To those I have caused inconvenience, I sincerely apologize. This was not my intention.)

Yesterday, Locsin shared her sincere apology to the family of the victim. That although she never met dela Cruz personally, from dela Cruz’s family he was a good man who raised his children well.

“Sa ngayon po, I will prioritize helping the family and I will make it my responsibility to help them get through this.”
