After the distinguished 69th Miss Universe finally came to a close, no one can deny that Filipinos had mixed emotions and thoughts regarding the beauty pageant.
Nonetheless, despite all the news connected to the pageant, Miss Universe 2020 Miss Philippines Rabiya Mateo was grateful.
On May 17, 2021, a few moments after the whole event, Rabiya Mateo shared her insights via her personal Instagram account. She thanked her countrymen, her teachers and mentors.
“It was such a beautiful moment to represent you, Philippines.”
She added:
“I am forever honored to be part of the legacy, of our history.”
“In my heart, I did everything I can. I trained really hard to be physically fit. I would have sleepless nights trying to read articles to be updated. I made a lot of sacrifices people can’t sometimes see. Early call time. Late night rest. Trying to be sane and motivated.”
“It was a challenge but it made me so much stronger everyday.”
“Salamat mga kababayan! Mahal ko kayo!”
Miss Universe Philippines representative did advance in the top 21 in the pageant. Mexico’s beauty queen Andrea Meza was hailed as the newest Miss Universe 2020.
