Government agencies asked to submit FOI Documents


Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar asked all agencies under the executive branch to submit Freedom of Information (FOI) documents for the 1st quarter of 2017. 

This is contained in a memorandum signed by Secretary Andanar which requires Agency Inventories and Freedom of Information (FOI) Registries to provide a uniform tracking, monitoring, and evaluation system for the FOI program implementation. 

The memo is a reminder to an earlier circular signed in November 2016 which required the submission of the said documents every quarter starting March 2017. 

The Agency Information Inventory is a master list of all government information held by an agency, containing the title, description, and file type of each information. The inventory provides the scope and limitations of the types of information which can be requested from an agency 

On the other hand, the standard FOI Registry is a log of all FOI requests received by an agency maintained by its assigned FOI Receiving Officer. This will be the basis for measuring agency performance and compliance alongside important FOI analytics to assess the initial financial costs of FOI implementation.
