In the Facebook page of Department of Agriculture (DA)  Secretary, Manny Piñol said that DA  promotes the use of biodegradable materials, including bamboo straws.

His attention was caught by the public after he posted a photo with the Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Steven Robinson sipping coconut water using plastic straws.

Moreover, the secretary apologize to the public and ensures the environmental advocates that  DA will introduce the use of bamboo straw which grow wild in Palawan and commonly used as fences to enclose yards.
