Social Security System (SSS) assistance for earthquake victims (members and pensioners only) in Mindanao

Members and pensioners of SSS whose home is damaged by the earthquake in Mindanao are now invited to avail the Calamity Assistance Package. This is only for those who owned a home located in the earthquake-stricken areas recognized by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) as under the state of calamity. Specifically, these places are the Municipalities of Makilala, Bansalan, Matanao, Tulunan, and Kidapawan City. The announcement was made last November 2019.


Members who can avail must have at least 36 month contributions and the amount that can be loaned is equivalent to the one month salary credit (MSC). They are also required to register on My.SSS for the billing purposes. OFW/seafarer members who reside on the said areas are also qualified to avail the program but with their letter of authorization. They must also submit a Barangay Certificate as a proof of residency on the said areas. However, retiree pensioners are not qualified to apply for the advance three-month pension. 

In addition, qualified applicants can also apply on the Direct House Repair and Improvement Loan Program and can borrow up to a maximum of P1 million. Applicants for this program must not be more than 60 years old and with at least 24 month contributions. The deadline for application of Calamity Assistance Package is on February 17, 2020 and for the Direct House Repair and Improvement Loan application is on November 17, 2020.

SSS calamity assistance to Typhoon Tisoy victims

Typhoon Tisoy victims who are members and pensioners of SSS are now also encouraged to apply for the Calamity Assistance Package (CAP). These members should be residents from Southern Luzon and some parts of Visayas region, including Naga City, Sorsogon, Albay provinces, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Camarines Sur. The specific type of loans are the calamity loan, direct house repair and improvement loan, and advanced three-months pension. The program started last December 20, 2019 and will end on March 19, 2020 (except for direct house repair and improvement loan).

The members who want to apply for these CAP loans can borrow up to P40,000 but depending on their average last 12 month salary credit and are payable in two years. It has a yearly interest rate of 10%. Late payers will also have 1% monthly penalty. Applicants must also register to My.SSS for the billing purposes and must have a Barangay Certificate as a proof that they actually live in the said calamity area.
